Letter posted from Arisaig by John Gillespie to James Forbes Esq., Hutton Hall, Brentwood, Essex, dated 28 October 1804. The letter bears the first namestamp used by Arisaig Post Office, which was in use from 1802 to 1808. Gillespie is writing from Scothouse (Scotus in Knoydart), asking if Forbes intendes to let some of his lands at Kingairloch, Argyll.
