A transcription of Joseph Gordon's Report on the Island of Eigg, produced for Dr Hugh MacPherson in 1828. The island was sold to Dr Hugh MacPherson in the same year. Describes visits to the island from 16 to 18 July and on 23 July. Discusses desirability of stocking parts of the island with cattle rather than sheep, describes the layout of the lottars' (crofters') lands and other holdings, lack of grouse, measures to reduce the number of dogs on the island, poor state of repair of the church and other buildings.
