Moe Mathieson


On 18th June 2008, as part of a training course for Project interviewers, Professor Paul Thompson of the University of Essex interviewed Moe Mathieson of Mallaig about his memories of growing up in Mallaig and of his thirty years of experience in the Mallaig fishing fleet.

In this extract from the interview Moe tells us of childhood pursuits on the pier, ring-netting for herring and the early days of the prawn fishing, then explains how some Mallaig fishermen moved to fishing offshore.
